Happy Birthday

I'm still having fun with the new Gelatos by Faber Castell - I can't wait till I can get the entire collection!

I began by cutting white cardstock to fit the Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, then I spritzed it lighly with water.  I randomly added 3 colors of blue to the cardstock then used a paint brush to move the colors around the paper.  Dipping the brush in water often helped create a soft water color effect.

I used a paper towel to aid in drying the cardstock. I didn't want to heat set at this point because I wasn't done with my coloring. I spritzed the cardstock again and added 2 shades of puple randomly on top. Using my finger, I moved the colors around. To get a smoother, softer look, I used a paint brush and water to work the colors into the background. These colors are fabulous and are somewhat opaque so you can continue to add color without creating a muddy effect.

When I finished, I heat set the cardstock to comply dry it before embossing it with a Cuttlebug Birthday Embossing Folder.  It really created an amazing background.  I used a brown ink pad on the embossed areas to add a little more dimension.

The birthday cake is from Justrite Stampers Topsy Turvy Cakes  which was colored with Copic Markers and edged with Spica Pens.  The cake was mounted onto Spellbinders oval dies and added with foam adhesives to the card after some lavendar twine was wrapped around the card.

I truly love Gelatos - it truly gives you freedom to play.
