Friendship Lamp

Hi everyone, I had the pleasure of working with a new etchall® product - etchall® Lighten Up kit.

This kit comes with everything you need to create your own lamp shade.

"Lighten" Up Kit

Once you take apart the kit, the included plastic guide can be used to cut paper or fabric of your choice that will perfectly fit the lamp shade.  I selected a piece of vellum and, using the plastic guide, cut out my shade.  Vellum is thin so I knew the light would shine through.

I added several layers of ribbon to decorate the edges and lightly inked them with Clearsnap ink.

Now that the shade was complete, I turned to my base.   For the base, I found a thin neck bottle and decided to etch a portion of a glass bottle.  I taped off the sections I did not want etched, then placed the bottle in a bucket of etchall® dip ‘n etch.

etchal dip 'n etch is reusable, so after 15 minutes I poured the it back into the jar so it's available for other projects.  Never waste a drop!

Etchall gives the glass some "teeth" so you can stamp images on the etched glass.  I stamped flowers and embossed them before adding color with art daubers.  Once cooled, I added yellow and orange to the flowers and placed some pearls in the flower centers.  I also added purple ink above and below the etched area.

There are so many different projects I can envision with the new etchall® Lighten Up kit.

Do you need a hug?

Hi everyone.   It's time for a new challenge at  The Ink Spot.  This week's theme is hugs.

I've using Heart Riley with some Authentique papers.   This could totally be a Valentine's Day card, a Mother's Day card, or even a card for your boyfriend/husband.

The Be Mine sentiment was the perfect sentiment to finish the card.

Happy Mother's Day

Hi everyone.  As we near the end of April, it's time to turn our thoughts to Mother's Day.  Sadly, my Mom is no longer with me but I know she would have loved this card!

Beginning with cardstock and a left over scrap of pattern paper, I add a flower as the focal image.  To create the flower I combined a mixture of red and white clay from Makin's Clay to achieve a rich pink color, then I used the Makin's Clay Ultimate Clay Machine to roll out the clay into a thin sheet.   See this post for details on cutting the perfect flowers from clay.

Next I layered 3 different sized flowers together with a brad and placed the flower on the card with some ribbon.

Happy Mother's Day is from So Suzy stamps and was perfect for this card.

Clay adds no weight to your card, doesn't break and easily forms into any design you need.

Blog hop with Earth Safe Finishes and Stencil Girl

Hi everyone, it's Earth Day and the teams of Earth Safe Finishes and StencilGirl are blog hopping.  I've got a mini recycled canvas to share.

I started by painting the canvas with Earth Safe Finishes Gesso to cover a previous project I didn't like.  Then I painted on  Cotton Candy Pink Chalk It Up paint and, while still wet, I painted on a light layer of  Whipped Cream Chalk It Up paint.

This canvas may be small, but it was the perfect size for Stencil Girl's Grow Strong Stencil and Mask. Using the Mask, I painted Plum Preserves Chalk It Up Paint.  Once dry (and it didn't take that long), I placed the stencil on top and painted on Shear Pearl Iridescents.

Love the shine!

Stencil Girl Set #1 Rafters, Web, Gears Stencil is a fun set that can embellish any project.  I used the Web stencil around the edges with Berry Iridescents.  I also used it about the left corner.

I masked the flower and stamped a script stamp around the canvas using Ann Butler Designs Crafter's Ink in Desert Sand.  Then I aged the canvas by inking the edges with Desert Sand.  To finish I used scrabble squares that I painted with Licorice Chalk It Up paint then added stickers on top.

StencilGirl is offering a prize so leave a comment on everyone's blog for a chance to win. Be sure to check out  the projects these designers have created:

Happy Mother's Day with Chibitronics

It's almost Mother's Day - time to create a card for Mom, or that special woman in your life.

Today I'm working with Chibitronics.  Chibitronics are fun little circuit stickers that work with copper tape and are part of the Designer Crafts Connection blog hop this month.

Products-file-image-300x300

The Starter Kit comes with everything you need to start creating your own light up projects.  Follow along with the included Sketchbook to practice before beginning your own project - it really shows you how to work with the circuits.

It takes a bit of patience to set up the light system, but once you get it set up, it's pretty amazing to see it in action.

This fun Unity Stamp was perfect for adding Chibitronics.  I was able to set up the lights so they shine through several flowers on my card by simply punching holes in the 2 pink flowers and placing the circuitry behind them.

Touching the concealed battery under the sentiment allows the lights to shine through the pink flowers.

Finish off the card by adding additional flowers and brads.

Enter to win your own Chibi Lights Kit by leaving me a comment and then visiting the Designer Crafts Connection blog and leaving a comment.  You will also  find a list of designers participating in this hop. Please check them out.

Joy clair Puppy Love

Hi everyone, check out the newest cards I've created for JoyClair

Puppy Love is a fun stamp set containing five images and 3 sentiments.  I die cut an oval in the center of the top layer and added a scalloped frame.   I colored the dog with Copic markers and then fussy cut him.  The sentiment was stamped on the white layer and the card was assembled.

Using the die cut ovals from the first card, I used them across the center of the card.  I used another puppy, coloring him with Copic Markers.  After fussy cutting him, I added him to the card with foam adhesives for dimension.

Flowers For You

Hi everyone.   It's time for a new challenge at  The Ink Spot.  This week's theme is flowers.

Today I'm using the Daisy Chain image, coloring it with Copic Markers.  I added a few pearls in the flowers for dimension.  Isn't it adorable?

The sentiment is from Cornish Heritage Farms Birthday Greetings.

Etchall Diffusers

Hi everyone, I have these cute little diffuser bottles around the house.  I find they really bring the Spring inside after the cold winter we have had.  To dress them up a bit, I used etchall etching crème to etch the name of each scent around the bottles.

I placed letter stickers around the bottles, then added tape around the top and bottom as I wanted some glass to show around the etched area.

I used a generous amount of etchall etching creme around the container.  Etchall is light brown, but as you can see my etchall is dark brown - that's because it has been well used.  Remember, though, the color does not impact it's etching ability.

Allow 15 minutes for the etchall to work, then remove the excess and place it back in the container.  Etchall is reusable so be sure to save every drop.  Rinse off the jars then remove the tape and stickers.

I decorated the jar tops with Ann Butler Designs Crafter's Ink and 1" stamps.  The 1" stamps were perfect to stamp around the tops.

They now look so pretty displayed in my room.

I love their mixed smells - peony, violet, rose - just like a garden after a spring rain.

Joy Clair Blog Hop

It new release day at Joy Clair and I'm working with the new Mother's Day stamp set.

Loving the tea cup - Mom and I used to sit and drink tea together.  And she loved pink so the card is all pink.

This cow and the matching phrase are so fun.  Can't you see a child giving this card to her mother?

Remember to stop by all the designer's blogs and see their projects.  And be sure to leave comments along the way since there are prizes up for grabs.

Spring Friends

It's a new challenge at Scor-Pal and this month it's all about April Showers, after all they do bring May flowers.

I started with paper measuring 5 1/2" x 11".  It was scored at 2 3/4" and 5 1/2".

Next, the card was scored 1/2" all around.

I've used a Penny Black stamp, coloring it with Copic Markers.   After fussy cutting I added it to the front flap.  A second umbrella was added for dimension and dew drops were added to the edges.

Inside, I cut a white panel to fit and stamped a Spring stamp repeatedly across the panel.

Layers of yellow and white were added to the background.
