Welcome to the Third Annual Handmade Holidays blog hop!! The best crafters, designers, and makers have come together to create and share a series of thoughtful, handmade gifts for the holidays during this 3 day blog hop. Our goal is to inspire you to create something from the heart this holiday season as well as share how to use our products in fun, innovative ways. We intend this hop to serve as a resource to you for this holiday season and for years to come.
Hop along to each blog in the list. Each day, from November 1 through November 3, 2013, we’ll be posting a brand new list of blogs to hop to. Comment on each blog, share your favorite posts over social media, and then use the Rafflecopter widget at the bottom of each post to enter to win the Grand Prize, a gift basket filled with crafty swag from the companies on the hop! We’re ready to inspire, share, and create – are you ready to hop?
I am thrilled to be participating in the third Handmade Holidays blog hop.
My projects today include products from Clearsnap and Walnut Hollow.
I received this cute mini crate from Walnut Hollow and knew it would be perfect to hold items I use constantly.
I first spritzed it with ColorBox's new Glacier Lake Spritzer which is a dye ink spray. Since I always make a mess when using sprays, ColorBox's Color Catcher is the perfect surface to catch all that extra ink!!! The ink dries very quickly so I was able to continue working on the crate.
I gently sanded the crate then used Surfacez Ink in Fudge to add swipe additional color on to the crate. This ink adheres to most surfaces easily and I was able to create an aged appearance as the ink got into the grain of the wood.
Next, I used Clearsnap's Design Adhesives and Designers Foils to add details to the crate. The gold foils really added a nice pop of color. And this crate perfectly holds my collection of Design Adhesives and Designer Foils.
This next project is Walnut Hollow's Small Lancaster Trunk and it's a beauty!! So many possibilities exist when working with it.
I inked the entire piece with Fudge Surfacez Ink. Since this ink adheres to most surfaces easily, it was perfect to use for a hint of color. I didn't want to use paint because that takes too long to dry and since Surfacez Ink dries almost instantly, I could continue working with no down time. Once I get involved in a project, I want to keep working on it!
I used assorted papers from Graphic 45's Secret Garden papers, cutting each a little smaller than the box then inking the edges of each with Fudge Surfacez Ink. I wanted a bit of the wood to show throughout and the inking on the paper allowed it to blend together beautifully.
Once completed, I added some potpourri inside. Wouldn't this be lovely in a woman's room - just remove the top to allow the aroma to run free.
I hope you are enjoying the Handmade Holidays Blog Hop. Please leave comments on each post along the way for your chance to win some great prizes.
