A Vintage Girl Canvas

Hi everyone,  I'm participating with the Designer Craft Connection blog hop and this month we are working with assorted products from  A Vintage Girl.

I was thrilled to receive the Vintage Dress Form - Baltic Wood,  Wicked Wings, Bricks, and the Alphanumeric Alpha Set.  What an amazing collection of products!!

Using a brown canvas, I rubbed on some silver Prima Metallique Wax to give it a distressed look.  Then I used a script stamp from Just For Fun Rubber Stamps with VersaFine ink randomly about the canvas. 

Using Plaid paints, I painted the Wicked Wings, then used more Prima Metallique Waxes to add definition.

I also used assorted waxes on the wood dress form.

The bricks were also painted with wax, while the letters were painted to match the wings.

I wanted the wings to have more dimension so I added metal gears.

Then I assembled her on the canvas.

Finally, I added Vintage Girl letters along the edges of the canvas. 

Isn't she lovely?

Spring Cards with Clear Scraps

Hi everyone, I'm on the Clear Scraps blog using several of their Clearly Framed Embellishments.

Using the Small Rectangle Deco Frame and the Small Oval Scallop Frame as the focal elements of my cards, I removed the film from both sides of the frames and painted both sides with pink paint.

Using GinaK Stamps, I stamped them with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored them with Memento Markers before fussy cutting them.

The flowers and leaves were arranged around the frames.  Several butterflies were punched from Rinea Foiled Paper and adhered to each card.  I finished with a small sentiment.

Red Wreath with Bowdabra

Hi everyone, I completely forgot to share this beautiful wreath.

Wrap wreath with red ribbon.  To create the bow, start by leaving a 4" tail and placing the ribbon in the Bowdabra.

Wrap ribbon in the Bowdabra creating a 5 looped bow, twisting the ribbon in each pass through the Bowdabra.  Using tulle, place it in the Bowdabra and create a 3 looped bow.  Place small sprays of flowers in the Bowdabra and pull up on the Bow Wire.

Tie off and fluff out the bow.

Tie to the wreath.

With the colors in this wreath, it can be used for Valentine's Day, for an anniversary, for Mother's Day and even for Christmas.  Mix up your colors to create a perfect seasonal wreath.

Friends and Flowers Card

Hi everyone I'm sharing a new card on the Just For Fun Rubber Stamp Blog using some great stamps available from the store to create my cards.  

I created a background using the Long Script stamp, stamping it repeatedly with brown ink until the background was complete.  I placed the panel on a kraft card and added a large die cut oval on top.

Next, I used the Daisy stamp, stamped it twice and colored them with Copic Markers.  Finally, I fussy cut them.  I also stamped and fussy cut the Small Canning Jar to use as a vase for the daisies.

Friends was die cut and added across the jar and a dew drop was added above the "i".

Masculine Cards with RInea Foils

Hi everyone, I'm on the Rinea blog with a new post using  the  Metallics Foiled Paper Variety Pack.  This variety pack includes copper, gold and silver in both Starstruck and Glossy.

I used alcohol inks to create backgrounds.  Alcohol inks create different results on Rinea Foils.  I created 2 different masculine cards using alcohol inks.  One card uses Copper Starstruck and the other uses Glossy Gold.  

Cutting Copper Starstruck to size, I dropped assorted colors of alcohol inks onto the foil.   Then I used a baby wipe to pull up some of the color from the foil.  Add more colors as necessary until you are happy with the color combination.

Scrunch up the panel.  Carefully unwrap the panel and rub Plantinum Planet Ink over the entire panel.  

Mat the Starstruck panel with brown cardstock and add to card.  Add a burlap element to one corner and a corrugated panel across the center.  

Stamp 2 vehicles from the Joy Clair Classic Father's Day stamp set and the Good Vibes stamp set, then die cut each.  Use alcohol inks with a water brush to paint the vehicles.

Mat the cars with larger dies and add to the cards.  Stamp phrase with Staz-On ink on a scrap of foil.  Also die cut the phrase, mat with a larger die and add to card with foam adhesives for dimension.

For my second card, I used Gold Glossy foil.  After cutting the foil to size, I also dropped assorted colors of alcohol inks onto the foil.  I also used a baby wipe to remove and blend the alcohol inks.

Using a gears embossing folder, I embossed the panel. 

Rub a Staz On ink pad over the embossed portions to highlight the gears.  Mat the panel with brown cardstock and add a strip of burlap across the center.

Mat panel with brown cardstock and add to card.  Add the vehicle atop the burlap.  Stamp Happy Retirement on a scrap of foil, mat with cardstock and add to card with foam adhesives.  

Finally, place metal gears around the card.

It's Your Day with Just For Fun Rubber Stamps

Hi everyone, it's a new challenge at Just For Fun Rubber Stamps and this month we challenge you to celebrate the women in our lives - she can be your mother, your friend, your sister, your co-worker, anyone who is important to you.

I created a card with 2 layers of pattern papers and a layer of black cardstock between them which allowed the colors to pop.  I then stamped the Small Canning Jar on white cardstock and fussy cut it.  Next, I stamped and fussy cut the Jar Daisies, then colored them with Copic Markers.

I placed the daisies on the card and adhered the jar on top.  It's your day... is from the Sentiments 1 stamp set and it was added atop the jar.  To finish, I added stickles about the jar and flower centers.

I Want to Be Afraid of Nothing Canvas

Hi everyone, I'm on the Makin's Clay blog with a new mixed media project.

Supplies:
Makin's Clay - white
Makin's Clay Rollers and Cutter Set
Makin's ProfessionalⓇ Clay Mat
Plaid Coastal Paint
Prima Acrylic Paint, Art Stones, Molds
The Crafter's Workshop Stencils
Beacon Tacky Glue

Using a 6" canvas and a small 3" frame, I painted them with black gesso.  Then I used molding paste with several stencils to add dimension.

While waiting for the canvas to dry, I created an assortment of different sizes and styles of wings.  Once the clay was placed in the molds, I used the Roller to force the clay further into the mold so it would pick up all of the details

I used Plaid's Coastal Paint in Seal Gray to cover the raised portions of the wings.

Once the canvas and frame dried, I used a variety of Prima Metallique Paints to create the background.

Spritzing the canvas with water allowed the paints to move and blend.  I used a paper towel to absorb excess water.

Using Beacon Tacky Glue, I glued the frame to the canvas.  I let it sit overnight to be sure I had a good seal.

I painted the wings yellow, then adhered the clay wings and keyhole to the frame.  Then I glued assorted sized art stones along the bottom.

I added more art stones to adorn the corners of the canvas then painted them a coordinating color.  I also added several small clay elements along the sides of the canvas.

Realizing I wanted to add a charm in the open space, I  threaded some beaded chain through the keyhole and added the charm.  I added a dab of glue to keep the charm in place.

The charm reads:  "I want to be improbable and afraid of nothing as if I had wings."  This is how I felt when creating this canvas.  I wasn't afraid to explore my creativity.

Proxxon Tools - Bench Drill Press

Hi everyone, today I have another review to share on another of my favorite go to tools from Proxxon -the Bench Drill Press.





As noted on the website: 
The power transmission by 3-step aluminum pulleys and flat belt provides 3 spindle speeds of 1,800, 4,700 and 8,500rpm allowing triple torque at lower speeds. The chrome feed lever has a practical adjustable drilling depth gauge.

The spindle is essentially free of play as a result of the three high quality ball bearing assemblies. It is recessed for the insertion of MICROMOT steel collets, but also threaded for attaching drill chucks with 3/8" thread. The spindle has an extremely high rotational accuracy and a 1 3/16" (30mm) feed. The quill diameter is 1 1/4" (32mm) with return spring, the throat depth (column to drill spindle) is 5 1/2" (140mm). The unit provides quick coarse height adjustment of the headstock via clamp lever. The max. height (worktable surface to spindle end) is 5 1/2" 140mm).


I find the Bench Drill Press is quite a compact unit sized at 11" tall with a based of 8 1/2" x 4 3/4" making it easy to fit on any work table.  The motor is housed in the die-cast machine head and runs very quiet so even drilling late at night or early in the morning does not present a noise issue.

You can quickly change the height adjustment with the attached clamp lever.

I have used the Bench Drill Press for an assortment of projects.  Some of those projects are plain unfinished wood items and some of those projects are completed projects.  I get the same results with no touch up needed on my completed projects.
