Clear Scraps Beach Tag

Hi everyone, I'm on the Clear Scraps blog sharing a new mixed media beach tag.

Using one of the tags from the Chipboard Tag Album, I began by first painting it with gesso. The Tag Album has 4 different shaped tags that  can be used for an assortment of projects.  I decided to use one to create a mixed media tag with an assortment of elements.  Once the gesso dried, I added several colors of spray inks to create the background.

Mesh was also spritzed then adhered to the left corner.  I also added several sizes of art stones as well as some sea shells created from Makin's Clay for dimension.

Once dry, I spritzed additional colors of inks to give the tag more life.  In the center of the tag, I added more art stones.

I stamped and colored a Prima doll stamp, fussy cut her and added her to the tag with foam adhesives.

Isn't she sweet?

Happy Mother's Day

Hi everyone, I've created a beautify card for Mother's Day (but forgot to share).  I used amazing Gold/Gold Glossy Foiled Paper from Rinea and a lovely bow created with the Bowdabra.

To create the card, I cut the foil 5 1/4" x 5 1/4" then embossed it.  The foil embossed really well and you can see all the amazing details.  I created a bow using the Bowdabra and added it to the panel by poking holes and threading the bow wire through.  Then I brought the bow wire back through the holes and rolled the wire on a craft tool to create the spirals.

Finally, I placed the foiled panel on a green card.  The sentiment, from Joy Clair stamps, was stamped, die cut and added to the lower corner.

Masculine Cards with Crafyscrappers

Hi everyone, I've got a set of  masculine cards created with stamps from Craftyscdrappers.  The Distress Diamonds Background stamp is perfect for creating backgrounds for masculine cards.  And I've combined it with the phrases from the Thank You stamp set.

Using Distress Ink, stamp onto white cardstock.

Cut panel to the size of the stamp, then ink the edges.

Add a strip of burlap ribbon across the panel.
Mat panel with brown cardstock, then adhere to card.

Stamp phrase from the Thank You stamp set; mat with cardstock and add to card.
Create a  keyhole from Makin'sⓇ white clay and a Prima mold, then ink with Distress Ink.
Add a key under the phrase.

Since this stamp is 4" square, consider creating a larger card by stamping the image again.

Ink stamp with brown ink and stamp the main image.

Re-ink the stamp and rotate it before stamping again.

Randomly tear the panel and ink with distress ink.

Mat with brown cardstock.

Ink several chipboard elements and adhere to the card.

Stamp phrase from the Thank You stamp set and clip to card.

Do you keep Secrets?

Hi everyone, Steph here today with another altered jar.  I must say I have been having so much fun altering jars and Makin's ClayⓇ is a fantastic medium to use on jars to create amazing projects.

Do you keep secrets?  Do you write them down?  Where do you put them?  Instead of putting them in a box or an envelope, why not put them in a special secret jar?

Supplies:

Prima Metallique Paints, Art Stones

Any size/type of jar

Mesh

Use brown clay (or any color of choice) and form it around the jar.  Use your fingers to move the clay around the jar until the clay meets.  Fresh clay will adhere to the glass as well as itself  so no adhesive will be necessary to seal the edges.  Your fingers will leave indentations in the clay and that just adds to the texture around the jar.

Use a Crafter's Workshop stencil with molding paste randomly around the jar.  Let it dry completely.

Add color with a variety of Prima Metallique paints.

Continue adding color until you are satisfied with the results.  Allowing the colors to blend creates some amazing colors on the clay.

Spritz the jar with Fireworks! Shimmery Craft Spray in Posie and Bamboo Leaves.

Spritz a piece of mesh with Fireworks! Shimmery Craft Spray in Bamboo Leaves and then glue it around the jar.

Once dry, start adding a variety of elements.  I attached a key engraved with "Secrets" and assorted sized art stones along the mesh.

Finally, I glue additional mesh around the neck of the jar.  This hides any imperfections at the top of the jar as well as gives it a nice finished look.

Dream.....

Hi everyone, it's time for the next challenge at Lavinia World Challenges.  Please check it out and join in the fun.

I'm using the Fairy Steps and Never Let Go stamps.  Wanting a simple card, I stamped the Fairy Steps and the word "Dream" in VersaFine Clair Pinecone Ink on white cardstock.

Brown cardstock was added to the card and a piece of burlap was glued in place.  Fairy Steps was matted with brown cardstock.  After punching Dream, I matted it with a larger punch and added it to the card front.

Happy Father's Day with Proxxon Tools

Hi everyone, I've got a new post on the Proxxon blog just in time for Father's Day.   Since Father's Day is just around the corner, let me show you how I created this beer mug with my Proxxon tools.

I started by freehand drawing a beer mug on a scrap piece of wood.

Using both the Micro Bandsaw and the Scroll Saw, I cut the design.  I found that using the Micro Bandsaw to cut with the grain of the wood made this project proceed faster.  The Scroll Saw was best at cutting around the handle and the curved edges as the blade is more pliable.

Once the mug was cut out, I used the Disc Sander, which quickly sanded the large areas.

Then I reached for the Delta Sander to sand the smaller areas and inside edges.

Using Plaid Paints, I first painted the mug a light beige.  Then to create the beer foam, I used a pallet knife with Plaid FolkArtⓇ Coastal Texture Paint.  Since I used a thick coat, I allowed it to dry overnight before proceeding.  When the paint dried, I had this 3 dimensional "foam" atop my mug.

I wanted a few stripes across the bottom so I placed painters tape across the bottom and used Plaid FolkArtⓇ Brushed Metallic paint for definition.

I used the same Plaid metallic paint on the gears and added stickers to spell Dad, placing the letters along the top line.

Thinking Happy Thoughts

Hi everyone, it's a new challenge at Just For Fun Rubber Stamps and this month we challenge you to use a stencil.

Creating a card from black cardstock, I cut green and white layers to fit.  Using a Prima Butterfly Stencil, I inked it with assorted colors of green ink.

Keeping it simple, I added Thinking Happy Thoughts, from Sentiments 3, stamping in black ink and embossing it.  It was die cut and matted with 2 die cut layers.  It was placed on the card across strips of green and black cardstock.

Thanks Cards with Arnold Grummer Papermaking

Hi everyone, I'm on the Arnold Grummer blog with a set of cards using papers made from the Arnold Grummer Papermaking kits.

Using several sheets of previously made hand made paper, I chose a pink toned paper and a blue toned paper.  These were prefect for creating both feminine and masculine cards.

For the feminine card, I used the pink toned paper.   I inked a background stamp with brown ink and stamped it onto the handmade paper.

I tore the background and adhered it to a cardstock panel.

Stamp a sentiment with black ink on a scrap of the same handmade paper.  Emboss it, then die cut it and lightly ink it.  Mat it with a larger die.

Wrap ribbon around the stamped panel and adhere the panel to card base.  Add the sentiment with foam adhesives for dimension.  Adhere Robin's Nest dew drops about the card making it more feminine.

A masculine version follows using light blue handmade panel with a stencil and blue ink.

The panel was matted with blue cardstock and added to a card.  I added burlap to the corner along with assorted gears giving it a real masculine feel.

I used the same sentiment, stamping it in blue ink on a scrap of the same handmade paper.  Emboss it, then die cut it and lightly ink it.  Mat it with a larger die.  It was then added with foam adhesives for dimension.

School Treat Bags

Hi everyone, it's a new month and the challenge on the ScorPal blog is to create with a summer theme,  just be sure it includes more than one score.

With school ending shortly, it's time to give something special to those teachers who were important to your children this year.  I've created some gift bags using Rinea Foiled Papers in conjunction with my Scor-Pal and Scor-Tape.

Cutting the foiled papers to 6" x 11", score at 5" and 10".  Save the 1" strip that was cut off as it will be used to finish off the bags.   Rotate the panel and score at 1/2".  I've used Ruby/Ruby Starstruck, Sapphire/Gold Glossy and Silver/Gold Glossy Foiled Papers.

Cut up to the 1/2" scored line so the panels fold easily.  Add Scor-Tape along the edge of the 1" panel and one of the bottom edges.

Remove the tape backing and adhere the bags together.  

Using Staz-On Black Ink with school stamps and stamp onto Silver/Gold Glossy Foiled Paper.

Adhere the 1" strips across the center of each bag.  Wrap each with twine.  Use a scalloped die cut with Ebony/Gold Glossy  for the base and place the stamped images on top.

Fill each with candies or other treats.
