Etched Hand Mirror

It's my turn on the Proxxon blog and I've altered a hand mirror.  It was in my stash for a very long time so I wanted to finally do something with it!!

I wanted to etch the glass so I used stickers to spell out "I am beautiful".  I positioned the letters around the glass then die cut a circle and placed it in the center.

 

I placed a large amount of etchall etching crème on the mirror completely covering the letters and overlapping the die cut circle.   I find the thicker the crème is placed, the better the etching appears.  As you can see my etching crème is more of a chocolate brown than a beige.  The reason is because I've used my etchall etching crème a lot.  However, that definitely does NOT impede the quality of the etching. 

 

After allowing the etching crème to sit for approximately 15 minutes, I carefully scraped it off and replaced it back in the jar.  Since etchall etching crème is reusable, remember to scrape and save as much as you can. 

 

Gently rinse the glass to remove the remaining etching crème and remove the letters.  Once all the etching crème has been removed, also remove the circle.  As you can see, the entire outer portion of the glass is etched while the center is still clear.

 

Adhere the mirror in place and and finish decorating.
