Designer Crafts Connection Blog Hop with DCWV

Hi everyone,  I'm participating in the Designer Crafts Connection blog hop, and this month we are working with Die Cuts With A View using Petal Papers.   These fun papers can be found at JOANN.com.

                                         

Petal Papers are a fun addition to the DCWV paper pads.  These papers can be used in many ways as they can be shaped.  I had fun shaping Petal Papers to fit around a tall bottle.  I first wrapped the bottle with the dark green petal paper, then chose coordinating papers and created the ruffle effects.  Kind of looks like a dress doesn't it?

Finally, I added assorted flowers, leaves and butterflies to complete my project.

Faerie Banner with Rinea Foils

Hi everyone, I'm on the Rinea blog with a Fairy banner using Poppystamps dies.

For the fairy banner, I used Misfits Foiled Paper Pack which contained all the colors I wanted for my banner.  The Misfits Packs contain twice the quantity of foiled papers as the regular packs due to minor imperfections in the foils which are barely noticeable.

Poppystamps has an amazing selection of Faeries dies.  I used Nimble Faeries, die cutting 5 different colored faeries in Violet, Jade, Fuschia, Blush and Lavender.

I die cut wings from Gold/Gold Glossy Foiled Paper.  Look how delicate they are and how amazing they look with the foils. 

I created banner pieces from Gold/Gold Glossy Foiled Paper and Silver Starstruck.  For support, I found a set of faux leather banner pieces in my stash and used them as the base for the banner.

Adhering the foil banner pieces together, I placed them atop the faux leather banner pieces which were assembled with brads.

The faeries were placed on each banner and the wings were slipped behind each.

What little girl wouldn't love this banner in her room!

Enjoy the Little Things Canvas

Hi everyone,  I'm participating with the Designer Crafts Connection blog hop and this month we are working with our favorite products.

Have you tried paint pouring yet?  It's so much fun and there are so many things you can create.  I chose to create this fun canvas.

I decided on the colors I wanted to use from the vast array of paints from Plaid Paints, poured a little into several paper cups, then added Mod Podge Ultra as a mixative.  Once mixed together, I started my pour.  Rotate your canvas so the pour goes into a variety of directions creating amazing designs.  It's such a relaxing feeling and you never know what the outcome will be.

Using a rollagraph wheel and a dotted stamp with brown ink, I rolled it randomly about the canvas. Next, I die cut  Rinea Mocha Starstruck Foiled Paper using a Heartfelt Creations die (2 needed) then adhered them to the center of the canvas with Beacon 3-in-1 Adhesive.

Using a stencil, I die cut it from watercolor paper, then used texture paint through the stencil.   Letting it dry completely, I then inked the edges before adhering it to the center.

Etched Football Cookie Display

Hi everyone, I've got a new project to share using etchallⓇ products.

With a family that enjoys football, I picked up a football glass and glass plate, but thought they were a little plain.  However, I knew that etchallⓇ would solve that issue.

I filled the glass with etchallⓇ dip 'n etch and allowed it to sit for 15 minutes, then I simply poured the liquid back into it's original container.  Since etchallⓇ is reusable, there is no waste.

While waiting for the football mug to etch, I used etchallⓇ etching creme on the back of a glass plate.  I also allowed it to sit for 15 minutes and scraped it back into it's original container.   Both items were then rinsed and dried.

To create the cookie display, I used Beacon Adhesive Power-Tac around the edge of the mug to seal it to the plate.  I let it sit about 60 minutes to ensure a good seal.

And I now have a sweet cookie display.

Merry Christmas Canvas

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here sharing a new Christmas project to share using Makin'sⓇ Clay.

Supplies:
Makin's ClayⓇ - Earth Tones, White
Makin's ProfessionⓇ Cutting Mat
Christmas Light Mold
Ranger Perfect Pearls
Rinea Foiled Paper
Spellbinders Dies
Sizzix Embossing Plate
Imagine Brilliance Ink
Canvas

Taking a 6" x 6" canvas frame, ink the edges with Briliance Ink.  Cut Rinea Emerald/Gold Glossy Foiled Paper 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" and emboss with a Sizzix embossing plate.  Adhere to the canvas with Beacon 3-in-1 Adhesive.

Using a silicone mold, place light brown clay in the top of the mold.

Next, place white clay in the cavity, overlapping the light brown clay.

Remove the light bulbs.

Add color to the light bulbs with assorted colors of Perfect Pearls.  While still damp, Perfect Pearls stick to the clay and provide a nice shimmer and shine.

Adhere twine to the canvas and add the selected lights on top.

Die cut Merry Christmas from Rinea Ruby/Gold Glossy Foiled Paper and place atop labels created from Silver/Gold Glossy Foiled Paper and Gold/Gold Glossy Foiled Paper.

Finish by adding Stickles randomly about the canvas.

Thanksgiving Table Setting

Hi everyone, Thanksgiving is almost here and I've created a Thanksgiving table setting with Makin'sⓇ Clay.  It's not too far off so it's time to get ready for Thanksgiving.

Use the Roller to roll out a variety of clays from the Earth Tones set.

Using the turkey cutter, cut turkeys and use the chisel tool to create turkey eyes.

Use the round cutter to cut out the turkey bases.  Use the chisel tool to create tiny holes around the bases.

To create the leaves I combined left over clays.  After using the Roller to roll out the clay, I used the leaf cutters to create assorted leaves.  Using the Rasp Tool, I added some veins to the leaves.

Using Perfect Pearls, I painted some shimmer to each piece.  While still damp, Perfect Pearls stick to the clay giving them a nice shine.

Create the menu, then adhere leaves to each.

Create place settings from cardstock and add a strip of pattern paper.  Create the gift bags by adding  pattern papers and burlap.  Use Beacon 3-in-1 Adhesive to adhere the leaves and turkeys to the place settings and gift bags.  Fill the gift bags with small goodies and tie closed.

I love creating table settings for the holidays, don't you?

Boo Panel with Makin's Clay

Hi everyone,  I've got a new Spooky project to share on the  Makin'sⓇ Clay blog.

Start by spritzing the panel with assorted colors of Fireworks Inks.  I started with lighter colors then realized I wanted a darker effect so I added a darker blue and gray.

Begin by conditioning the white, black and brown clays.  Then place each individually in the clay machine at the highest setting.  Reduce the setting on each pass until you have the thickness you need for your project.

As I was creating a Halloween scene, I die cut a haunted house from the black clay.  To be sure the clay did not stick to my die, I placed the clay between wax paper and then ran it through my die cut machine.  Although still damp, it die cut beautifully. 

Picking up the left over black clay, I mixed it with some white clay and again ran it through the clay machine until I had a mottled effect.  I then die cut the roof of the house and placed it atop the main image. 

 As the clay was still damp, no glue was needed to adhere the pieces.

Next, I die cut 2 trees using another Sizzix die.  Again, I placed the clay between wax paper so it would not stick to the die.

Once all my elements were ready, I started creating a spooky scene.  I began by adhering some torn strips of paper across the panel then put the trees in place.  Realizing I wanted fence posts, I used the left over black and white clay and die cut the fences.  I also had left over brown clay so I free hand cut a sign.  Using the small pumpkin cutter, I created several pumpkins, used a craft stick to create texture, then spritzed each with Fireworks Craft Sprays.  They were placed around the sign onto which I added letters spelling BOO.

Using the ghost clay cutter, I created a number of ghosts that I adhered to the panel.  In the upper corner I created a moon and placed a ghost on top.  

The black cats are standing on the fence and the witch's hat is in the tree.  Yellow clay was added behind the house to simulate light in the windows then the house was adhered to the panel.  Using the remaining black and white clay panel, I used a rectangle cutter to create bricks for a walkway.

Happy New Baby Album

Hi everyone, here's a sweet baby album using Whisker Graphics twine, tags and bags and Makin'sⓇ Clay as decorative elements.

The front cover "B" was covered with pink paper.  A bunny was fussy cut and seated by the bottom window.  Several flowers created with Makin'sⓇ Clay were painted pink and blue and then added to the cover.  Bright White Twine was then tied to the letter, giving the front page lots of texture.

The letter "A" was kept simple with a strip of rhinestones added along the edge.  A Makin'sⓇ Clay created button was added in the corner.

Twine can be used is so many ways, not just to tie something to your project.  Using 3 strands of Brown SugarTwine, I braided them together.

The braid was then adhered around the interior letter "B".  Pattern paper was adhered to the back of the letter allowing the sweet words to show.

Happiness was stamped on a white bag and a tag was placed inside.  The bag was adhered to the letter and white twine added to the tag.

Stamping on a bag adds a fun element.  Slip a small tag inside and tie with Green and White Bamboo twine.  Jeweled ribbon was adhered around the letter "Y" and a clay button was added to the corner.

Finally I tied assorted colors of twine to the rings of the album.
