Vintage Shaker Truck Gift Bag

Hi everyone, I'm on the Clear Scraps blog with a gift bag using the Mini Shaker Vintage Truck which is one of  14 new shakers now available.

The Truck Shaker comes with 4 chipboard pieces  plus one acrylic piece. 

I painted the die cut pieces with red paint then poured Gold Glamour Pigment on the top panel to give it a little shimmer.

The base truck was painted with gold paint, then I  also poured Gold Glamour Pigment on the base panel to give it a little shimmer.

Gluing 2 of the die cut trucks to the base, I stamped a phrase inside next.

Placing mini beads in the cavity, I then glued the acrylic panel and the last die cut truck in place.  I placed a heavy book on top and let it sit overnight before continuing with my project.

Using travel papers, I decorated the front of a gift bag. 

How fun this would be to give to someone who is heading off on a journey whether that be to college or even a scheduled trip.  Fill it with some of the recipient's favorite goodies -  some candy, some cookies, a notebook and even a pen.

Lavinia World Challenge #31

Hi everyone, it's time for the next challenge at Lavinia World Challenges.  Please check it out and join in the fun.

I decided to create a mini book to showcase how you can also decorate a canvas book cover with Lavinia stamps.

I painted the canvas panel with pigment powders mixed with water to create a paint.  I first painted the canvas gold, then added streaks of pink.  The store has a lot of pigment powders in so many colors so it's easy to pick your favorite colors.   

I stamped three Dream Catchers in various heights along the bottom, then Dragonfly Keeper and one of the fairies from the Three Dancing Fairies using VersaFine Clair Nocturne Ink on the panel.  Next, I sponged Green Oasis Ink under and around the Dream Catchers then stamped Mini Dots  around them.

The Stone Texture stamp was stamped in the lower corners using Pinecone Ink.  I stamped portions of the  stamp around the edges of the panel.  Next, I created a moon around the Dragonfly Keeper using an acetate circle and purple inks.  I also sponged purple ink around the entire book.  The Faerie Spells stamp was randomly stamped around the cover using Pinecone Ink.  Finally I added some stickles about the cover. 

I assembled my book with watercolor papers and finished with ribbons on the rings.

Mixed Media Travel Album

Hi everyone, I'm on the Clear Scraps blog with a Mixed Media Travel Album using the Mixable Lovely Album.

This album is a combination of acrylic and chipboard panels in a variety of shapes.

Remember to remove the plastic covering on the acrylic pieces before adding your papers and embellishments.   The beauty of the Mixable Albums is that you can create them any way you desire by using all the pieces or not.

Going with a travel theme, I used papers from Stamperia's Around the World collection to create my album.

 Some of the papers were cut to fit the pages.  Some papers were torn and assembled together on the pages.  Pockets were created to add more space for pictures and journaling.  Tags were inked and added about the album.  Assorted metal embellishments were placed about the album.

Additional tags were included as pages for more journaling opportunities.  Die cut words were added to the front cover and on various pages inside the album.

I will be traveling this year and think this album will be a fun way to document my upcoming trip.

How to Create Art

Hi everyone, time to create art.  Art has so many different meanings for everyone.

Select a left over panel of wood that fits your stencil, then cut it with the Band Saw.

Use the Disc Sander to sand the panel.

Place a stencil on the panel and add color so the pattern is visible.  Use the Power Carver to carve  out the scroll pattern.  I've not used the Power Carve much so this was a learning process and I would rate this a beginner project.  With the variety of carving blades available, you can carve an assortment of details and with more practice, the possibilities are endless. 

Now that the design has been carved into the panel, gesso the entire panel.

Reposition the stencil and add different colors to the word and the scrolls.  Finish by spritzing a shimmery craft spray.

The final touch was adding brown ink around the panel as a contrast.

Mixed Media Altered Jar

Hi everyone, I've got a new altered jar to share using lots of  fun products from the Rubber Buggy store.  Please visit the store for all the fun products I've used today.

I chose to alter a bell jar, but any size or shape of jar can be altered.  See what you have in your stash and let your creativity shine!

Use a spackle knife to cover the Stamperia Mould - Butterfly and Manuscripts, with Prima Marketing Old Silver Icing Paste.  Place a light even layer to cover the entire mould.

Allow the Icing Paste to dry and gently pull away from the Stamperia Mould.  I let it dry overnight, but simply test the mould to see when it's dry enough to remove from the mold.

Paint the jar with Prima Marketing Art Alchemy in Royal Blue and Ice Queen.

Allow the jar to dry then use Beacon 3-in-1 Advanced Craft Glue to adhere the mould around the jar.  Depending on the size of your jar, the mould may not fit it completely, but I was fine with that.

Allow to dry completely, then add color using assorted Prima Marketing Art Alchemy Metallique Paints.  I used Gold Amber, Golden Moss, Fairy Wings, Dragon's Eye, painting the jar randomly.

Next, I used some of the same paints to paint some clay elements.  Then I used Prima Marketing Art Alchemy Magic Wax to add color to  Tim Holtz Ideaology mini gears and the clay elements.

Next, I assembled all items on the jar with Beacon 3-in-1Adhesive.  Then, I added some  Prima Marketing Art Stones about the jar.

Finally, I wrapped twine around the top of the jar and added  a Tim Holtz Ideaology Metal Quote Token.
