Hexagon Box

Hi everyone, this month's challenge on the Scor-Pal blog is to create anything for organization purposes, just be sure it includes more than one score.

Today I'm sharing the direction of how to create this Hexagon Box.

Cut cardstock 8 1/2" x 6"
Score the long side at 2", 4", 6", 8"
Rotate and score 1/2"

Cut cardstock 4 1/2" x 6"
Score the short side 2", 4"
Rotate and score 1/2"

Place ScorTape along the 2 long edges that are 1/2".

Join the pieces to create the box by adhering at the  1/2" mark.

Cut 4 pieces of pattern paper, each 1 7/8" x 5 1/2".
Adhere the pieces to the exterior.
Repeat for the inside if desired.
Adhere the final edges to create the box.

Die cut 2 medium sized hexagons and 2 large sized hexagons (sorry for the different color!)

Adhere the medium hexagon to the box bottom, forming the shape.
It's a little fiddly, so work slowly - the die will not line up edge to edge - but it will hold the shape.
Adhere one of the large hexagons on top of the medium one.
It will slightly overlap the box, so cut off the excess.
Place the 2nd medium hexagon inside the box bottom giving it added stability.

Cut 1" x 7" strip for the handle.
Cut 1/2' strip of pattern paper and add to handle.

To create the box top:
Cut 2 pieces of cardstock, each 2" x 8".
Use a scalloped die to die cut both pieces and adhere them together forming one piece.

Score 1/2" from the straight edge and place a row of Scor-Tape.
Working one section at a time, line the scalloped edging with the large hexagon.
At each point, cut the scalloped strip on an angle and score.
Work around the hexagon until you reach the end and cut off the excess.
Cut a strip of pattern paper 1/2" x 9".
Score at each point and adhere around the scalloped border.
Add a large scalloped circle on top.
Place the handle next and adhere with Scor-Tape.
Place brads for added stability.
Glue flowers about the handle.

Simply by changing up the papers, wouldn't this make a great gift for a teacher, a friend, or perhaps a wedding couple?

What will you place inside?

Thanks for stopping by.

What will you put inside?

Would like to see what you create for this challenge.

January Winter Wonderland Layout

Hi everyone, I'm on the ClearScraps blog today with a winter themed layout.  Since we recently had 12" of snow, I couldn't think of a better layout to create.

The January kit includes 2 - 12" x 12" acrylic panels and a winter stencil along with papers from American Crafts.

I adhered pattern paper behind the panel and used molding paste to create texture around the outside.  Then, I used the included stencil to add trees to the bottom corner with molding paste.

Once the molding paste dried, I replaced the stencil and spritzed over it with green ink.

I chose elements from the pattern papers and added them to the layout, then die cut several photos, grouping them with the papers.  January was cut from one of the papers and used as a title.

School Star Mini Album

It's time for a new challenge at Scor-Pal.  This month's theme is school days.  So upload your school days project with more than one fold on the Scor-Pal blog.

I've created a star book which is perfect to hold all those photos taken throughout the school year as well as record report card information.

Supplies:
Scor-Pal
Scor-Tape
Cardstock - 3 colors, 2 sheets of each color
Pattern Paper
Ribbon
Chipboard

Cut cardstock as follows:
Color A: 6 pieces, 4 " x 12"
Color B: 6 pieces, 4" x 10"
Color C: 6 pieces, 4" x 8"

Score each piece of  Color A at 6".  Fold.
Score each piece of Color B at 5".  Fold.
Score each piece of Color C at 4". Fold.

Add Scor-Tape to the edges of Colors B and C.

Assemble C to B to A.
Assemble all 6 pieces in the same way, then run the scoring tool on each section to flatten.

To assemble, place Scor-Tape around the edges of one set and place another set on top.
Repeat until all sets have been adhered together.

To create the covers, cut chipboard 4" x 6".
Cut pattern paper 5" x 7".
Place the chipboard panel in the center of the pattern paper.
Cut the corners at 45 degree angles and fold in the edges.

Cut ribbon long enough to go around the book leaving extra to tie into a bow.
Place Scor-Tape around the edges and across the center of the front of the book.

Center ribbon around the book, leaving even lengths.
Adhere across the center.
Place the cover on top.
Repeat for the second cover.

This is a perfect book to add all those photos taken each year from the first day of school, to concerts, to parties, to the last day of school.  It easily folds to fit in your purse or on a table.  Open it up and it becomes a star.  Tie it together and leave it open to showcase all the photos.

Thanks for stopping by today and don't forget to stop by the Scor-Pal blog and upload your project this month.

Who luvs u?

It's my day to post on the Basically Bare blog.  Check out my post using the Owl Embellies.

I inked the owl with several shades of brown ink from Clearsnap, then assembled the owl.  Random left over stickers created a fun sentiment.

Happy Graduation

Good morning, Steph here today with a graduation card which is on the Zig Blog  today. This is a time to celebrate as our children start spreading their wings.   It's time to let them fly so I've used a dragonfly stamp which I've colored with Zig Brushable Markers.

The card size is approximately 3 1/2" x 5".
I used Zig Brushables in the following colors:
Apricot
Platinum
Powder Blue
Root Bear Float
Spring Green

The Zig Brushables allow you to blend the colors.   Using both ends of each marker, I blended the colors together on the wings.

For dimension, I cut out one of the dragonflies and added it on top of another.  The Coffee Zig Journaling pen was used around the edges of the sentiment and the dragonfly before matting with brown cardstock.

Supplies:
Cardstock:  American Crafats
Stamps: Hero Arts, Marks Finest
Ink:  Memento
Markers: Zig Markers

May Arts DT Call

Hi everyone, did you know that May Arts is having a DT call?  I am thrilled because I would love to work with this team.  And, having a wonderful supply of beautiful ribbons on hand wouldn't hurt either!!!!

My samples for the call include:

Catty Christmas card
Love this wonderful May Arts ribbon in pink - awesome  that I could "shed" it as if the cat got a hold of it before I used it on my card - simple but effective don't you think?

Happy Mothers Day card
Loved this wood grain pattern paper, but wanted a more feminine look - out came May Arts crocheted trim - the perfect finishing touch.  Love that the cream color of the trim worked well with the pattern paper I chose.

Hello card
May Arts Crocheted trim adds texture, color and dimension to this sweet card.  The trim "gives" a little so you can stretch and tie it as needed, and it still retained its shape.

Baby Buggy Favors
Nothing screams baby shower like a baby buggy
Adding May Arts lace trim and little bits of ribbon were the perfect finishing touch to this little party favor and it was so easy to make!!!

And finally, a tutorial for my Friendship Box using May Arts lace and glitter ribbon.

Cut blue cardstock into a 9” square.
Score at 3” and 6”.
Rotate cardstock 90 degrees and score at 3” and 6”.
Turn cardstock so that the points are at the 6” spot and score from the point to the first score line.
Repeat for each corner.
Fold on score lines, folding the corners inward.

Using a floral rollagraph wheel, roll over white cardstock with Pinkolicious Ink.

Cut floral cardstock into 5 squares – each 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”.
Ink edges with Pinkolicious Ink and adhere 4 of them to the outside base within the scored lines.

Using a wordy rollagraph wheel and Squash Ink, roll across white cardstock.

Cut cardstock into a 9” square.
Score at 3” and 6”.
Rotate cardstock 90 degrees and score at 3” and 6”.
Cut out the 4 corners, creating a "T" shape.
Cut the corner pieces on a diagonal and trim to fit the corners of the base.
Ink edges with Squash Ink and adhere with the words showing.
Using the white side of this piece, ink the edges with Squash Ink.
Trim to fit.
Add Scor-Tape to the center panel and adhere, leaving the other flaps free.

Stamp 6 assorted sentiments on white cardstock with Very Berry Ink and emboss with Clear Embossing Powder.
Cut, ink edges and mount 5 sentiments on blue cardstock.
Add 4 sentiments to the interior white flaps.
Stamp flourish on the center flap with Squash Ink and emboss with Clear Embossing Powder.
Die cut a sentiment into a circle and add to the center with foam adhesives.

To create the box top:

Cut blue cardstock 5 1/8" x 5 1/8” and score 1” around this piece.

Adhere the remaining floral panel to the center.
Cut along score line to the next scored line on each side.
Add Scor-Tape to the smaller flaps and fold in to create the box top.

Add Scor-Tape around the edge of the box top.
Add Eyelet Trim  lace around the edge.
Clip at the corners so the ribbon lays flat.

Add Scor-Tape to the pink ribbon.

Place pink ribbon on top of the lace ribbon, pulling off the Scor-Tape in sections as you work.

Adhere the final sentiment to the box top.
Stamp a butterfly with Very Berry Ink and emboss with Clear Embossing Powder.
Add dots of color to the butterfly with Smooch Ink.
Adhere to the top with foam adhesives for dimension.

Add pearls around the box to finish.
