Cornucopia Thanks

Hi everyone, I've got a new post  project for Dies R Us.

It's Thanksgiving this week so I've created a cornucopia card.

I love this Tutti Designs die so I die cut the cornucopia from kraft cardstock, then lightly inked it with Tea Dye Ink.

 

To emphasize the pumpkin, I added orange cardstock, adding glue to the thin pumpkin veins.

 

I created a card from papers I had on hand, creating an assortment of layers.  Then I added a strip of burlap across the center.  The cornucopia was added to a die cut gray circle with foam adhesives and then adhered to the card.

 

A simple phrase was stamped with black ink and then slipped behind the cornucopia.  Foam adhesives were also placed behind the phrase.

Always Grateful Cards

Hi everyone, I've got another project for Dies R Us.

Tutti Designs has some wonderful dies and this particular Grateful die is perfect for the upcoming Thanksgiving season. 

I die cut the image from gray and orange cardstocks, then used the opposite color to fill in the pumpkins, giving them definition.  

For additional definition, I die cut green cardstock for the leaf sprays.   Using The Best Glue Ever, I adhered the layers together.

The die cuts are approximately 4" square and are perfect for the focal points of my cards.  The panels were inked with brown ink then matted with cardstock.  I created  5 1/2" square cards, added pattern papers and strips of burlap across the centers, placing the panels on top.

To finish, I added gems to the flowers using The Best Glue Ever.

A little book of dreams

Hi everyone, with the crazy weather we've been having, I've had time to create with some amazing Faber Castel Gelatos.

I had this Heidi swap paper pad in my stash that was begging to be used.  Because of the cool nature of the papers, it lends itself perfectly to Gelatos.  Not totally sure what I was going to do, I started by cutting the papers into 6" x 6" panels .  Thinking along the lines of a mini book, I cut chipboard slightly larger to use as the covers. 

I created some Gelato spritzers by cutting tiny pieces of Gelatos and placing them in a spray bottle with some water.  If the pieces are small enough, they blend with the water quickly as you shake the bottle.  Then I simply spritzed the background.



On the front cover, I decided to play with all kinds of mediums.  I used a Crafter's Workshop brick stencil on the right side with modeling paste.  Once dry, I painted purple Gelatos over them.  I love how it gives the cover some nice dimension.  Then, I added a script stamp in opposite corners and stamped a flower in the other corner. To finish the cover, I rubbed purple Gelato all around the cover, blending with a baby wipe to soften the color.

This Memory Box die is really pretty and very delicate.  I colored white cardstock with several colors of Gelatos, placed the die on top and ran it through my die cut machine.  Check out how awesome this flower looks.

I wanted to add some white elements so I die cut the flower again from white cardstock. 

I die cut another flower from white cardstock and colored the die cut pieces with pink Gelatos.  ScraPerfect's the Best Glue Ever was perfect for adding all the little pieces of the flowers to the front cover. 

Using assorted Gelatos I added color to the interior pages using either a water brush or baby wipes to blend and smooth out the colors.

Blues and Greens - using a water brush to blend these colors

Yellow and Pink - uisng a baby wipe to blend these colors.

I assembled the pages and added the covers.  I punched holes and adhered them together with some ribbon.

   

So this is my little book of dreams, just waiting for me to add some little poems and quotes that help inspire me.  I hope you like it.

Candle Gift Set

Hi everyone, hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful.

Today the Robin's Nest team are blog hopping.

We are less than 4 week from Christmas and it's time to get those final projects completed.

Today I've made a gift bag with a coordinating card.  This makes such a perfect gift itself, but add a little something inside just because......

The Robin's Nest  Flame Glitter Swirl Cardstock was used in my projects.  This paper is beautiful with touches of yellow flames throughout.  And, the cardstock is double sided so I used both sides of the paper.  I die cut two ovals in graduating sizes and reversed the cardstock on the largest.  The die is a Memory Box die which I die cut from White Snow Glitter Cardstock.

A close up of the gift bag.  I die cut the candles again from green cardstock to finish off the holly and then added  Pointsettia Dew Drops to the berries and yellow Under The Sea Tear Drops for the candle flames.

The card uses the same papers and die, but I wrapped some Offray ribbon around the card before adding the die cut element.  Again, I added yellow Under The Sea Tear Drops for the candle flames.  They are so realistic!!

 

Who wouldn't want to get a gift with this gift set?

Candle Etching

Hi everyone, I've had the pleasure of working with etchall this past month and I've got all kinds of glass projects in the works.

I love how quick and easy glass etching is with etchall.

Begin by die cutting your image and removing the positive die cut.  I used a Memory Box die for this project.  Taking off the vinyl backing, be sure all the little pieces are removed.

Using vinyl transfer paper, place the vinyl die cut on your glass and rub gently so it adheres.

 

Remove the transfer paper and, using the squeegee, be sure to remove any air bubbles from the image.   Add masking tape around the image so the etching crème does not get on the exposed glass.

 

 

 

Add liberal amounts of etchng crème to the image, being sure the entire image is covered.  Wait 15 minutes then remove the etching crème and return it to the jar.  It's perfectly safe to be used again and again.

 

Rinse off the glass under running water and then remove the stencil. 

My jar is beautiful as it is, but I wanted to add some more personal touches.  I die cut the greenery from the same die and adhered it to the image.  The I added some dew drops from the Robin's Nest for the berries and the candle flames.

 

Be careful, glass etching with etchall is addicting!!

Beautiful Flowers

Hi everyone, this month the Robin's Nest design team is working with flowers.

This friendship card started with  Black Cardstock.  I cut it to fit the base of my card, then I used some awesome double sided cardstock - Admiral Daisy Linen cardstock.  This cardstock has various sized stripes on one side and assorted sized daisies on the other.  Perfect for showcasing both sides of the paper.

Scraperfect's Embellie Gellie is a perfect little tool to pick up the Black Tear Drop Dew Drops I used to create the flower centers and the Best Glue Ever was the perfect adhesive to add the Dew Drops to the card.

 

 

 



 

May Arts ribbon was tied to the card and a stick pin was inserted in the knot to hold the friend quote.


My next card uses some lovely Pink and Brown Glitter cardstock.  I created a 5 1/2" square card from Brown on Brown Glitter Cardstock, then added a layer of Pink Glitter Cardstock on top.

 

The flower sticker was a little too big for my card, so I cut it apart and matted it on the Brown Glitter Cardstock before adding it to the card.  Again, I used the Embellie Gellie and the Best Glue Ever to pick up and adhere the assorted Dew Drops on the flower centers and the butterfly. 

The sentiment easily stamped on the Pink Glitter Cardstock and was then die cut.  Additional layers were die cut and then assembled on the card front.  A glittered butterfly was matted with cardstock and then added to the card with foam adhesives for dimension.

If Friends were flowers........

My first design team project for Susan K. Weckesser is up on the blog today.





I've used Susan's Fly Away stamp set from Unity Stamps, adding color with Pan Pastels and Clearsnap ink.  The trellis was added to the card with ScraPerfects's The Best Glue Ever.  The Prima flowers were also colored with Pan Pastels before adding them to the trellis with a tiny wood butterfly.  The butterfly needed a trail so I used The Best Glue Ever to place dots of glue onto which I placed Robin's Nest Dew Drops. 

A tiny chipboard sign was inked and a simple sentiment placed on top and nestled amongst the flowers.

May Arts Challenge Winner

May Art's challenge this month was to create with their new retro color selection.  I was lucky enough to be selected to participate in this challenge and these are my creations:

In Grandma's Trunk - I found this little wood box and knew it be a wonderful starting point for something!!!

So I pulled out some lovely Art Anthology paints and created Grandma's Trunk.  I used an older Sizzix die to create the dress form, dressed her with a pink dress and added tulle for the base of the dress which was tied with May Arts ribbon.

The doily was spritzed with Art Anthology Patience Spray which allowed it to become stronger so it could be manipulated without tearing.  The pink PomPom ribbon from May Arts was adhered around the box with ScraPerfect Adhesive.  A string of "pearls" and some flowers finished my project.

My second project was a mini gift card and candy bar wrapper.  I think the ribbon colors were perfect with this SEI pattern paper.  The stamps are Hampton Arts and ColorBox Mini stamps and wee inked with ColorBox Ink.  And who wouldn't love to pull a candy bar out of this wrapper?

Spellbinders Platinum Party Blog Hop - Day 2

Merry Christmas Card

I used the Spellbinders 2013 Heirloom Ornament die.  It's the perfect die to create cards with.  Just line up the largest  die on the folded edge of the cardstock and run it through your Grand Calibur. A perfectly shaped card has been created in no time.

Die cut the next layer from red cardstock, then stamp the sentiment - it fits perfectly around the edge of the ornament!  Cut the next size die from red cardstock and adhere to the larger ornament.  Die cut a reindeer and ink it before removing it from the die (love this effect).  Add to the top ornament with Glue Dots so that it is slightly raised from the surface.  Now die cut the Holly Twigs and Leaves, inking them before removing them from their dies. Add them to the side with foam adhesives for dimension.

Tie a ribbon to the largest ornament and add this piece to the card front.

Die cut the 3rd die from white cardstock and add to the interior of the card.  Stamp a sentiment from The Stamp Doctor inside and adhere.

Keep Your Spirit Bright

 

This next card uses my Scor-Buddy to create a gate fold card.  Simply cut cardstock to 5 1/2" x 11" and score at 2 3/4".  Rotate the card and score again at 2 3/4".  Fold inward.

Add assorted pattern papers to the front, inking first with ColorBox Warm Red Chalk Ink.  Die cut a  red and smaller white ornament from the 2013 Heirloom Ornament die using the 2nd and 3rd dies, stamping the StampDoctor sentiment on the white one.  Adhere together. Tie ribbon to the top ornament and adhere to the left side of the card only.

Die cut the 2 wreaths and bows from Spellbinders' new Holly Wreath die and be sure to emboss the top layer.  Using a dauber, ink all the pieces with ColorBox Guacamole Chalk Ink, then assemble the wreath, offsetting it slightly so you can see both layers.

Using Glue Dots, center the wreath  on top of the stamped ornament. 

Add some bling with the Best Glue Ever to create the berries on the wreath.
