Spring blog hop with Ann Butler and Walnut Hollow

Hi everyone I am so thrilled to be participating in the Ann Butler and Walnut Hollow blog hop today.

The Walnut Hollow product I am working with is the 11" x 11" Rustic Pallet.  It has so many possibilities!!!

I lightly white washed the pallet with yellow paint.  Since I really wanted a white washed appearance, I spritzed it with a lot of water as I painted.  Once dry, I added some Earth Safe Finishes - Iridiscents to the top three panels, applying it with my fingers.  Spritzing with water allowed it to be a little more fluid.

Using burlap from DCWV, I die cut the 2 banner layers using Sizzix dies and added brads to hold the banners together.  The Kellycraft 2" Flourish ABCs were stamped with ColorBox Berry Ink and then heat set with Clearsnap Opalescent Embossing Powder.  Once the letters cooled, they were fussy cut and added to the banner.

Along the bottom panel, I painted some ColorBox Limelight Ink which I mixed with water.  When dry, a striped stamp from Ann Butler's acrylic stamps from Kellycraft was stamped along the bottom twice to give the illusion of grass.

Using another Sizzix die, I cut the tree trunk in brown cardstock and then fussy cut the tree top from burlap.  I then used a stamp from Ann Butler's 2" Doily Picnic stamp set from Unity, stamping it on the tree top in Limelight and Tangerine Inks to give the tree some dimension.

The fence was cut with my Cricut Expression.   Before adhering, I held it in place and stamped the leaves from Ann Butler's 1" Leaves All Over stamp set on and about the fence.  The fence was then added with foam adhesives for dimension.

The birds were stamped in Sunshine Ink and once they were die cut, they were inked with Tangerine Ink.  The flowers were added to the fence after being stamped in Tangerine Ink and Berry Ink and then fussy cut.

I had so much fun working on this pallet and it looks amazing hanging in my room.

A traveling we will go

I am thrilled to be guest designing for Eclectic Paperie this month.   This is my third post and I'm using papers from October Afternoon in conjunction with a Stamping Bella Stamp.  I wanted to create a travel wall hanging and found this panel board at my local store.

Using Art Anthology's Velvet Dimensional Paint in Aloha, I lightly painted the background.   Since I wanted a hint of color, I spritzed the panel with water which allowed the paint to flow easily.   Then I added in Art Anthology's Sorbet in Honolulu Blue for a bit more color.

I also painted  Art Anthology's Sorbet in Honolulu Blue  on the edges.

The papers I used are from October Afternoon's Travel Girl collection, which I thought would be perfect for what I had in mind.  I cut the papers to fit the inside area on this board, inking the edges with Memento Rich Cocoa Ink and matting with cardstock before adhering.  Love the map paper.

I cut and tore some wordy travel paper from this collection, matted with some cardstock and placed it so it was falling off the right edge.  I added a large die cut oval from brown cardstock on top.  Using a Stamping Bella stamp, I colored her with assorted Copic Markers and then fussy cut her, placing her atop the oval with pop dots for dimension.

Since my stamped image appears to be thinking about where she'd love to travel next, I fussy cut assorted words from this pattern paper collection and adhered them around her.

Along the bottom panel, I added a sweet sentiment.

I miss you

Hi everyone.  It's Wednesday and that means its time for a new challenge at Mark's Finest Papers and Stamps.

This week's Simple Salutations Challenge #98 is to use die cuts or punches on your card.

The stamps are from the Friends stamp set and were colored with Copic Markers and fussy cut. I placed them atop a die cut oval and added the sentiment below.

Just a Note

Good morning everyone, it's a new challenge at Cornish Heritage Farms and Frances has asked us to create a card based on this sketch.

Sketch Challenge for challenge 20th May hosted by Frances

This is a perfect card to create with left overs, so I pulled out my bin and created this card.

I used the Cat in a Flower Pot digital image, coloring it with Tombow Markers.  The sentiment is from  Script Essential Expressions.

Brads were added before the card was adhered to the base.

Kaisercraft Design Team 2014 Entry

Good morning.

Kaisercraft has a new design team call and I'd love to be a part of the new team.

Summer Lovin' layout using Fine and Sunny Collection

Nothing screams summer like this collection

Cut apart elements from this collection to add to the page.  Die cut letters using a Cricut (or other die cut machine) and ink the top layer of letters with Clearsnap ink.  One focal photos says it all.

Camp Kit using Tiny Woods Collection

This portfolio is perfect to give the kids heading off to camp.  Fill it with cards, envelopes and stamps (so they can write home) as well as popcorn or candy treats.

Create a portfolio from cardstock using a template from Green Sneakers.com.  Score with Scor-Pal, cut and fold.  Add pattern papers to finish, both inside and out.  Die cut elements for the front.

Birthday Card using Hip Hip and Decorative Tape Pieces clear stamp sets

Stamp birthday sentiment on a tag and ink with assorted Tim Holtz inks.  Create a background with a Cuttlebug embossing folder and ink.  Create faux washi tape from assorted Decorative Tape Pieces and various colors of ink.  Add to card, slightly under the tag which was added with foam adhesives for dimension.

A Tag for all Seasons

Hi everyone, this is my second post as the guest designed for Eclectic Paperie this month.

I created tags for all seasons.  I used the same products for each tag, just changed up the colors for each season.

I used the new Prima Marketing stamp - Warn Wishes as the focal image.  She is dressed for winter, but change the colors and you can get away with using her for any season.  Each image was colored with assorted Copic Markers in keeping with the season.

To begin, I stamped each tag with an older Hero Arts stamp set I've had forever.  Using VersaMark Ink, I stamped one season repeatedly on each tag, then added Clear Embossing Powder and heat set each tag.

Here are the details of each tag:

Spring Tag

I used Faber Castell Gelatos in Yellows, mixing the colors with water until I had the look I wanted.

I added some Gold Metallic Gelatos around the edges and used a paper towel to remove some of the color.

Summer Tag

I used Faber Castell Gelatos in Reds, mixing the colors then removing some of the color.

Fall Tag

I used Faber Castell Gelatos in Neutrals and Metallics.  Loving the earthy feel of this tag.

Winter Tag

I used Faber Castell Gelatos in Blues and Metallics.  I love the included purples and how the metallic colors make the tag shine.

Once the tags dried, assorted twine from The Twinery - Charcoal, Gunmetal, Blossom, Strawberry, Cantaloupe, Honeydew, Buttercream, and Cappucchino was tied around each tag and through the hole.

Using assorted papers from 7 Dots Studio's Nature Walk - wonderful earth toned papers with imbedded images - I cut them into 3" x 6" panels.  Each panel was inked with the same Gelatos that were used on it's coordinating tag, then matted with black cardstock.

Using additional papers from Nature Walk, I die cut 2 sizes of ovals and placed them on the panels.    Glue Dots were placed behind the panels for dimension, allowing them to pop.

Each stamped image was fussy cut and added to the oval with Glue Dots for a little dimension.

Please stop by the eP Store and pick up all the wonderful products I used in this week's project.

Thanks for stopping by this week.

Iris folding with CHF and the Robin's Nest

Hi everyone.  Do you remember Iris folding?  I haven't done it in years, but was recently asked to teach an Iris folding class.

Iris folding is a wonderful way to use up all those scraps of paper you hold onto from finished projects.  If you are anything like me, it's really hard to throw away anything, so, take out those scraps and start Iris folding again.

You can find tons of Iris folding patterns all over the internet as well as numerous books on this subject.  I created this Baby Boy Bootie card using papers and dew drops from the Robin's Nest.

I used left over strips from  the Special Delivery Collection: Special Delivery Boy Cardstock,  and the Paris Collection: Blue Robin Glitter Cardstock.  Since the papers are double sided, it is easy to coordinate papers

The sentiment is from the Script Essential Expressions stamp set from Cornish Heritage Farms, the ribbon is from May Arts and the ink is from Clearsnap.

So, do you think you'd take up Iris folding again?

Thanks for stopping by today.

Work like a Captain, Play like a Pirate

Hi everyone.  Basically Bare is teaming up with DCWV this month.

I've used the  Basically Bare Timeless Tabs (BK001) with DCWV Sailor pad.  This paper pad is full of images of anchors and ships and sealife and included lots of glossy papers.

I'm taking my first cruise later this year and thought this album would be perfect to record those memories.

This album consists of canvas pages which I inked and painted and added rub-ons to.

I used a Basically Bare gear embellie as a stencil and spritzed it with Art Anthology Colorations.

The DCWV papers are fun to use as is or cut them apart and mix them.

Acrylic pages in this album were fun to paint and adhere DCWV papers.  The paint became the adhesive.  Additional rub-ons were adhered to the acrylic.

There is plenty of room for photos and the last page was turned into a pocket page so I can store memorabilia from my trip.

Off to travel

This month, the Robin's Nest team is working with the fabulous Robin's Nest Beach Collection.  This is a fabulous collection of glittered, double sided papers in beautiful beachy colors.  We are also teaming up with Green Sneakers, the maker of some amazing templates.

For my project, I used Green Sneaker's Baker's Box template to create the box.  This template can make boxes of any size - just follow the template's design.  I wanted a large box and this is the largest at approximately 12".

My post for Tuesday - I had so much fun working with this collection and the Green Sneakers Template.

These beach papers from the Robin's Nest were perfect for this box and a matching card.  Check out the blog post for all the details.

Wouldn't this be a wonderful treat to give someone who may be about to embark on a new journey?

Thanks for stopping by today.
